Hi
Just got back off holiday to Sri Lanka, i took loads of photos on my Fuji Film A500 digital camera using a fujifim 1 gb XD card. I have had no problems with loading the photos onto my laptop until i tried to download the last set of 58 pictures. It would only display 2 photos on the laptop. Know when i turn the camera on it says 'Error card not initialized' and i cannot view any photos.
Can anyone help or advise what to do as i would be really upset if i have lost some of the photos.

Try this:

Are you trying to download the pictures directly from the camera or via a card reader? Note this:
"Can I recover my pictures direct from the digital camera?
Answer: This depends on the camera. PC INSPECTOR™ smart recovery RECOVERY uses a logical drive letter to access the memory card. If your camera allows you to access the memory device in this way, then you can use PC INSPECTOR™ smart recovery to recover the files directly from the camera."Charlie0 -
It is all dependent how you are accessing the files as the previous poster states if your doing it direct through the camera trying it through a card reader may just solve the problem. if not as the previous poster states try using recovery software, your still stuck let me know as i had one which had a free trial. Thanks

Many thanks for the advise, i hve tried downloading to the pc throught he camera but it won,t down load. I have also put the XD card straight in the card reader on my pc, although it displays all the photos, when i try and save them to the pc it comes up with ' incorrect parameters'
I will try the software posted and let you know how i get on.0 -
hi
managed to get 29 out of 58 photographs off the memory card. Very pleased but it did not find the additional photos that i was really wanting.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks to the replyers though0 -
There's a selection of file recovery tools here:

A bit tedious but it might be worth trying these one by one.Charlie0
