Ok, here we go. Now you may have noticed I've ignored your request not to box in the American Fridge Freezer. I think the problem with just having it on it's own is it looks lost, almost as if it was an after-thought. Bear in mind that nearly all USA F/F's are a similar size, so it's not as if you'll struggle to get anything to fit in...

Hope you like it, if you want me to amend anything, just let me know :)

Impressive. A few comments from someone who likes to cook. The oven is quite a distance from worktops which could be an issue when dealing with something hot or heavy, and it is next to a passageway which is not ideal from a safety perspective. I prefer an oven close to the hob and worktops, for the previous reason, and because I sometimes assemble a dish from fried and/or boiled items then shove it in the oven. Also when a dish fresh from the oven is hot, the most convenient place to put it down is the hob, hence having the two close together is good. I would also put the sink near the hob and oven, as I am always putting mucky stuff in the sink to soak.

The above are clearly highly personal and subjective, but I thought I'd throw in my thoughts, even if they are discarded because you do things differently. :)

Nice plan Meeps! You pretty much drew what I was thinking when I saw the original one. Why put the hob between the windows when there was a far more obvious place to put it.
  • Apologies for delay in replying, away for weekend (comp win, dont you just live MSE :j). Anyway, I love the kitchen, thank you so much for taking the time to do that for me, really v grateful :D
I do see what you mean about the f/f, does look good how you have done it, just wanted the option to make do with the one we have now and get that at later date but I guess can work around that. My only other worries are that pull out larder is right next to the door, (its bi-fold) though I could hang it on the other side but still needs to open in rather than out as stairs other side. Other thing is much prefer hob where you have put it but that is not an outside wall, is that a problem?
:wall:Trying to get a grip

Personally, I'd just hang the door on the other side then, it's probably the only place you can put a larder without it looking out of place and breaking up the flow of the kitchen.

No real issues with the hob and hood not being on an external wall, hoods have come on a long way and as long as you choose a decent model you'll be fine. The key to a hood getting rid of the smells is all in how you use it anyhows...

  • Wow - as I've mentioned on another thread, we're in much the same position. Have a plan from Wren Kitchens, which I think fits the brief, but would realllly appreciate a second opinion. We're restricted insofar as we can't afford to extend, which will leave us with along & narrow dining area.

Start a new thread. Upload the plans/pictures and I'll take a look at it for you :)
