Hi all
I had switched off the wall socket and disconnected my sander when I got a small electric shock from the plug pins. Is this normal?

No. Are you sure you werent burned instead? The pins would have been very hot after use?Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.0

No it was definitely an electric pulse! But no stronger than some people occasionally get off a car door say.0
-
Possibly noise/interference suppressor capacitors holding a small charge which discharged as you touched the pins.0
-
its a capacitor start motor, and nothing to worry about.0

Yeah it's Capacitors storing the charge. I had some big capacitors fitted to my Technics turntables and I used to get a proper zap from the pins even hours after they were un plugged. Got my brother on his tongue once0

Thanks guys. I'll steer clear in future just in case!0

could be a static charge too. just like off a car door.

dont stick a pp3 battery on your tongue:D0

It's only a static jump.
There's just one light switch in the hall that i seem to get it all the time.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.
