Mothercare moving goal posts? (price match)

I've managed to get several complete bargains using the mothercare price promise over the last 2 or 3 months. I think there was only one order where I didn't manage to use a voucher code as part of the order (20% off toys etc).
Well, this week I ordered some stairgates. They were £29.99 each, on 3 for 2 and I had a 15% off code. So it came to £46.48 for the 3 gates.
They are only £22.36 on Kiddicare, but when I phoned up after placing the order I was told they were too late to amend the price on the order, and I would have to call back once the gates arrived.
So today I called. CS person 1 had made notes on the system, but CS person 2 said she couldn't price match because of the other offers used. Their argument seems to be that it would have cost £67.08 from Kiddicare, but I only paid £46.48 from Mothercare.
However, if the system hadn't done the 3 for 2, I'd have been paying £67.08 under the price match with £30 of gift vouchers, so £37.08.
Apparently nothing can be done now.
Is it worth phoning tomorrow in the hope of speaking to someone else do you think?
And on top of all that the gates are crap, can't be used in the way implied on the site, and will most likely be going back anyway.:mad::mad:

Did you read the T&Cs?TERMS & CONDITIONS
If you find a product for sale in Mothercare cheaper anywhere else, we will match the lower price. This applies to ALL branded items for sale in any UK retailer - in stores, catalogues and online (excluding auction sites) for an identical product where the item is in stock, listed as new (excludes used products) and sold by the retailer.
Price match cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion, discount or voucher offer - either price match or promotion, discount or voucher offer will apply which ever the discount is greater. Contact us within 7 days of purchase and we will verify the price with a quick phone call - if you've already bought the item, we'll refund the difference on production of your Mothercare receipt. Items sold as part of a multi-deal are matched to their individual price.
**The £10 gift voucher offer does not aply to ELC brand products sold on the mothercare website and is limited to one claim per product, per customer. It is a limited offer which can be withdrawn at any time. The Price Promise applies to all products except clothing and cannot be used in conjuction with any other offers or discounts. The £10 gift voucher offer applies to online purchases only.
So there you have it. You were wrong and they were right on the phone as you had used a promotional 3 for 2 offer and this made them price match exempt.one of the famous 50 -

Point is, they didn't apply those T&Cs previously. There was no way of ordering 3 gates without them being 3 for 2 as their site automatically applied the promotion.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

But that offer made them cheaper than the price you're trying to get them to match - I'm not really sure what your complaint is? Either way, it's completely up to them to change the goalposts of an offer, which is at their discretion. Presumably they realised that savvy shoppers like yourself were losing them money, so decided to tighten up their policy - no harm in that, and nothing to complain about either to my mind.0

Just because something has happened when you have shopped there in the past and taken advantage of the offer available does not mean that this should be what happens in the future.
They dont have to sell you anything they dont want to anyway and as said above have probably cottoned on to this happening and have tightened everything up now..
Just send em back now and go somewhere else with a lesson learned.one of the famous 50 -
if you're going to send them back anyway you've not missed out on anything, but it is common practice that you can't use discounts or pricematches in conjuction with offers. I'd just put it down to experience and feel lucky you got the previous deals.0

They're going back. Thanks for all your comments. I wondered if others had managed to get around it by speaking to someone else.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

I think you can only get one voucher per item type ordered anyway so you have only got £10, not £300
