Booked a holiday on the credit card and now i need help

Hi,
Me the girlfriend and my mate and his girlfirend booked a holiday last week which we found through Teletext holidays , 1 week in marmaris all inc ect ect.
We booked it using the credit card as we thought it would give us security if anything went wrong , which now has.
We booked through a company called a1travel.com.
Yesterday i was listening to the radio at work and herd that a holiday provider , http://www.h4u.co.uk/ , had gone pop.
I paniced thinking that it was our company but as mentioned above it wasnt .
The Holiday was booked through , http://www.a1travel.com/ , it turns out that they deal with the accomodation but not the flights.
This morning the girlfriend recived an email say that our flights had been booked through http://www.h4u.co.uk/ , and were no longer available.
This is the part that has really wound me up,
Even though the company was covered by Atol and Abta its going totake upto 6-8 months to get a refund which i think is disgusting.
A quick call to the credit card company got an un helpful reply saying that it will take 6-8weeks for them to make a decision as the wether we get a refund or not , not much help when your holidays in 4 weeks time.
What i ant to know is,
We booked the holiday as a package deal and we are no longer getting the package we wanted so why cant we get a full refund from the credit card company?
For the 4 of u its going to cost us over £1000 in flights to get there leaving us well out of pocket for a long period of time.
If anyone can help pleae advise me because i dont know what to do.

Which is worse? Getting a refund in a few months (how many claims are there/ or did you think yourself more important than anybody else?) or !!!!ing your money down the toilet and losing the lot?
If you can't afford any more flights cancel now.
You could ask the credit card company to put the amount into dispute to see if they will freeze the interest on it - a slim chance but you never know.0 -
Never said that i was more special than anyone else, i am fully aware that there are many thousand of people in the same boat as me .
I have the money in my personal account to pay for the holiday but didnt want to pay the card off untill we had been as you never know whats going to happen , was just after any info as what to do.0 -
