Hubby ordered a new focus titanium in Jan. Because of the extras we wanted it had to be custom built.

It arrived at the showroom today.

Good news is that they have put all the extras in and got the right colour :)

Bad news is they have made it a 5 door instead of a 3 :(

So now we have the option of either taking the car or refusing it and re-ordering with another 2 month wait.

I want to know anyone thinks we could haggle the price down further if we decide to take it? And if so what sort of reduction do you think we should try for?

Similar Q in http://www.honestjohn.co.uk (clik into 'the backroom - then discussion' ) today - they got colour wrong, there!

Try for a bit of a discount - the 5 door may well be easier to sell on, later!
Do your homework & aim for, say, £500 less than the discount car brokers can supply one.Or maybee, your next couple of services free?

Well we accepted the car. Got it for the price of the three door, a full tank instead of the usual £20 and got it superguarded for free :)

Talking to a friend who works for a dealership, last year they had 7 cars turn up with 5 doors instead of 3 and in every case where the car was accepted they charged the extra £500.

Think you did the right thing, 5 door is much better than the 3 ;)

Obviously somebody must think that it is a clever thing to do.
