Mortgage ADVISOR in Bedford/Stevenage?

Hi all,

Tapping into the forum's knowledge here :)

Anyone can recommend someone local to Bedford or Stevenage who could help a couple of first time buyers to get their first mortgage?

It really should be a fairly straight-forward case, but we would like someone who rather than just finding the cheapest thing we can afford (we have already found some cheap deals we can apply for), would guide us on what is more appropriate to our particular circumstances and helped us in looking a bit further down the road.

My partner insists on no-fees, no matter how much I explain about the different types of MA and all I've read on the forums. Will we have to go for L&C or similar on-line? My understanding is that in actuality these don't provide any "advice", do they?

Cheers!

If their are no "issues", no need for an advisor, just check out the deals and apply direct.

    Well, it's more things like:

There are deals we can afford at 75% LTV or if we put some more, 70%
some of those have different types of fees
some are trackers, some are fixed, what's best?
Different lengths of deals, what to go for?
My partner wants to be able to do overpayments, what's the best strategy?

... I bet that with a very good spreadsheet we should be able to work out most of this, but I bet there are things we would miss

    Thanks Matt!

I'm still open to suggestions, I'll be doing some "shopping around" :)

As an adviser myself I obviously disagree with this statement. Some people do consider us as being useful from time to time :)

With regard to the bedford/Stevenage area - I am in Huntingdon, but a colleague of mine works on Stevenage High Street and will only charge fees on very small mortgages.

Feel free to PM me for his details.

    Thanks

    Matt
