Hi Guys,
On behalf of my brother I have tried to re-claim his bank charges for the past four years only, I was going to go the full whack but i knew the four years would be succifent for an offer.
The charges are as follows:-
2008 :- £651
2009 :- £761
2010 :- £190
2011 :- £270
Total:- £1938 inc Interest
--
The offer they have offered is as follows:-
3 Months credit back + £50 Compenstation :- Totals - £290
--
Do I accept this or should I take this to the [FONT="]Financial Ombudsman?
My brother is leaning towards accepting a final offer, I think he could get more in my view.
Look forward to your views

I have read this and he was in hardship during this time.0

could you accept this, as a down payment on the rest? or is the offer a full settlement offer? i have read on here, people who have sent a letter back, saying they would accept this now, as a downpayment, but would be going to the fos/county court for the rest, and the bank has either made a better offer, or payed up in full.
i would try sending them another letter, telling them this.0 -
Is he in financial hardship today?dazzae2008 wrote: »I have read this and he was in hardship during this time.
If so, how much food will £290 put on his table tonight?
What happened and when that significantly and unexpectedly reduced his disposable income?
If not in financial hardship today, then I'm surprised they offered anything at all.
The banks only usually consider refunding some recent charges that occurred to a customer in current financial hardship. Even that is not always the case as the banks are under no obligation to refund any charges appropriately charged."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Its not about whether he was in hardship back then, all that counts is that he is/is not in hardship now.100% G33K
