Egypt: Best holiday money options

Hi there,

I'm off to Egypt in November. Going to Cairo, Nile Cruise and Hurghada.

Any suggestions for best and safest ways to spend holiday money.

Thanks

I'm not sure quite what you mean by "safest way to spend holiday money" but you will get a better exchange rate in Egypt. Always take English notes they wont accept scottish or irish.

Thanks for this. When I go to Europe or worldwide I tend to pre-order a little currency and then draw the rest out on cashpoints. Wasn't really sure whether this could be done in Egypt?

    Hope this makes sense,

  • You might struggle to find many cash points though. Take cash and keep it locked away, taking out only what you need to change.
    Sounds like a great trip!
One tip, read up a bit on the kings and queens of ancient Egypt before you go. You will hear your guide mention so many that after a while it is hard to remember what is what!
If you have a bit of advance knowledge then it will all make a lot more sense. :T

There's plenty of places where you can exchange money or travellers cheques. They actually like pounds out there too, so I would suggest taking a fair bit of Sterling with you. We had no problem changing travellers cheques on the cruise ship. We went last October but can't imagine things would ahve been changed by the revolution too much.

Have a wonderful time, and be ready for a few early morning on the cruise, but it is really worth doing.!

or at least borrow them from your local library !

VERY, VERY good books on these subjects.

Read them before you go, take them with you and read the relevant part each day after you have visited the site.
