Egypt was our best holiday, we had such a good time there and I am looking to go back next year (hoping for a voucher off First Choice after complaining about the Club Mac complex!). The beach is more shingle than sand but the sea is lovely, really shallow for so far out so good for kids and they can have a little snorkle at the end of the jetty (I wasn't brave enough to go too far!) and see all the lovely fish.

We spent a lot of time round the activity pool because my 10 year old did things like water walking, canoeing (in the pool) etc, he also did archery, zip wire (£3), he's not usually one for joining in the kid's club but he went to that as well. Apart from the zip wire everything was included. I hardly needed any spends.

Most of the Egyptian staff are friendly and good with the kids. And the service is really good, especially the room clean.

We went the last week in September and got a free upgrade to a swim up room, it was fantastic!

Once you're there there isn't really anything extra to pay for which makes it more relaxing, the Club Mac I ran out of money! I paid £1444 for Egypt and £1005 for Majorca, Majorca ended up costing more with the spends, plus the fact the Euro rate is poor.

If you go, do the quad biking in the desert, we all said that was our best day (me and 2 boys 10 and 17).
Zoe, which hotel was that in Egypt? sounds great, I would so love a swim up room!! :)

My advice...with all those people...Orlando! No, it's not Spain but you can rent a villa with pool and game room (air hockey, pool etc). You don't have to go to Disney to have a great time in Orlando. We are going in March next year and got a 5 bedroom villa with pool etc for under £600! We were gonna go to Spain but between the great price on flights we found and a villa coming out way cheaper than a hotel room would...we decided on Orlando :D

Where did you find such a great price on flights? I am looking for next year and for school hols they are coming out at £700pp

its a fab hotel and the scenery is amazing i have just come back from Ibiza and stayed in the Hotel Presidente in Portinax basic three star hotel but the kids if they are under 10 ish twelve at a push will love it fab location a few shops gorgeous beaches and load of entertainment
i went with my husband no kids and we had a great time its a very family type hotel rooms are basic but the location cant be beaten i would say that this hotel and the San miguel are great
another one that i stayed at years ago is the hotel el greco which is below the president and has direct access to the beach and has a small waterpark as well again its good for kids and familys

another one that i spent 10 day in over june was the hotel Miami in escanar ibiza which is more slightly more built up than the above 2 hotels as they are in the north of the island but escanar is still very family friendly and right on the beach good entertainment and easy access to the hippy market

there are no loud clubs or bars in any of these areas lovely walks if you want to be3 able to to do a bit more then escanar is great as you can get buses to all over the island santa eullalia is only 15 mins on the bus

staff in all of these hotels are great work very hard no misrable faces ect and made for a very good holiday

We are looking to book the Meditarraneo Hotel in Benidorm due to it being 4*, highly recommended by many we know and many reviews on websites also recommend highly.
Plenty to do for kids (we have a 4 year old and 1 year old), food (we are told) is immensely impressive and caters for all (they even do a childrens buffet menu), rooms all equipped with fridge, microwave (for those with babies), A/C, balcony/terrace, with evening entertainment, 900mtrs from levante beach and 15 mins walk to town centre (where all the nightlife live)
    Good luck

We went on a family holiday this year (10 of us including kids) All Inclusive To Majorca - Palma Nova - Spain to a hotel called Los Tordos/Mirlos run by Sol. What a fabulous time we had ...food excellent staff excellent plenty of activities day and night for children and adults, the hotel has a Flintstones theme and the kids loved it, there are also 2 large swimming pools and a small one for kiddies. We booked with ULookUBook on the internet and phone and got a very good deal also Monarch scheduled flights and transfers included, may be worth you having a look you can get the hotel on the internet lots of pics. And its only about 50mtrs from the beach! Hope this helps.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I won, I won, I won!
We got home in the early hours of yesterday from a weeks AI at the Atlantic in Es Cana, Ibiza with our 2 children aged 9 and 7 and we had a fabulous time! The hotel was spotless, the food was fine - nothing special but always something for everyone and the entertainment was fab! Can't rate it highly enough really. Es Cana is lovely - my DD loved the hipy market on the wednesday. When the hotel entertainment finished we would put the kids to bed and sit on our balcony and come midnight everything went quiet - it was lovely!!!

  • Well I have given in and booked San Miguel again! Usually book with Thomson but found it cheaper to book direct with hotel and flights with Easyjet. Saved over £500 on Thomson package price.
