Eating out with a baby in Scarborough

Hi

My husband has booked us a weekend in Scarborough at the Brooklands Hotel for my birthday, however baba goes to bed around 8pm so we were wondering if anyone could recommend any restaurants we could go to on a Friday and Saturday night that might be quiet enough for him to sleep in the pram?

Not too expensive please :)

Thanks!

Bit off topic, but you might find it useful.
There's a programme called Towns on BBC2 at 2100 tonight.
It's all about Scarborough. If it's as good as the one about Ludlow last week it'll be worth watching.

This will probably be too far out of Scarborough for you but anyway.
There is a lovely country pub/diner that caters for families with young children.
It's called the Honeypot Inn In Speeton.
Its south of Scarborough by a good few miles. At the top of the hill at Reighton turn left towards Flamborough. Its about a mile down the road.
You could actually make a day of it at Flamborough or Bridlington & then stop at the diner/pub before finally returning to Scarborough.

  • We've recently moved from Scarborough so hope i can help..The Denison Arms in East Ayton is a lovely family pub, meals are out of this world and excellent value..also in East Ayton is a lovely fish and chip restaurant called Walkers.Spacious and airy and lovely food!..
Scalby Manor is on the north side and is run by crown carveries..excellent value too..as well is a family pub called The Rosette in Scalby Village.excellent value again and plenty of room inside should you want to take pram/pushchair in x

hello, i am assuming you are looking for an MSE meal? if so:

The Rosette as previously mentioned has 2 meals and 2 drinks for £9.99 at the moment if you download a voucher from the sizzling pubs website.

The Red Dragon on Falsgrave has an all you can eat menu for £7.99 a person and will keep bringing out dishes til you pop. You must be seated for 7pm for this price. Buy the 'Visitor Guide 2011-- from any newsagents and you will find a 10% off coupon on page 40. There are lots of other vouchers in there to make it worthwhile :)

Florios Italian has a happy hour for those seated before seven. I can't remember the deal exactly but it is on Aberdeen Walk.

The Scalby Manor previouslt mentioned is pert of the Crown Carveries group. There is a voucher on the voucher board for you to get carverys for £2.99 each. It is on Burniston Road.

There is a Pizza Hut on Huntriss Row which is cheap if you make the most of your free salad.

The Crown on the corner of Scalby Road always has cheap meals advertised.

A little bit nicer and a few more pennies:

On the Seafont is an Ask, again check the voucher board. The views over the harbour make it a little more special than an Ask would be.

Giannis on Victoria Road is nice and not pricey.

The Yew Tree in Scalby Village is delightful

Tuscany Too is on southcliffe near your hotel. It is nice for a romantic meal if neither of you want to drive.

The food at the Copper Horse in seamer is good too.

I agree with the rcommendations made by the other apart from the Rosette - I would certainly not take a baby in there - it is just full of bluebottles. My relatives dined there recently and were violently sick afterwards. Their telephone call to the manager went unanswered - they promised to call back but never did and the person at the end of the phone said that they couldn't avoid the bluebottles - it's just that time of the year.

Hopefully they will get sorted out - we used to eat there some years ago and it was very nice then. I think Environmental Health will soon tell them that you can get rid of bluebottles.

Another place I would recommend which is in the centre of Scarborough is Cooney's Carvery, The Crescent, (around £3.75 each) but is only open Tues-Sun lunchtimes 12-2.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions - we had a wonderful weekend! In the end we went to Pizza Hut on the first night and just had a picnic on the bed on the second night as baba slept fine in the travel cot. However we did go for lunch to this place which I thought I would recommend to you all as it was lovely:

The cafe was called Sipping Happily and had a lovely play area in the back, very child friendly and fab food!
