CT -thanks for putting piccys up of the kitchen organisers..........I did some last year but not as nice as yours and as theres a calendar on them its not too bad if I repeat it as a pressie.
How long did it take you to knit that scarf ? I'm doing one for my son and it seems to be taking forever to grow...........lol
It took too long Mary - probably 2 months of a couple of nights a week. It seemed to take forever to look any different in length although I'd knitted loads. But there will become a point when it does start to grow and it was worth spending hours and hours on it.
The one I made for a friends birthday took me about a month, and wasn't as long as mine, as I had had enough of knitting it. In the end it was the perfect size for her as she is about 5 inches shorter than me, so didn't notice a shorter length scarf :rotfl:. Not sure I've got the patience to knit another one for someone else this year to be honest but we will see.2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
Oh well, think I'm nearly half way there so should get it done in time for Christmas then I'm doing some wrist warmers for him........they don't take as long thank goodness...........lol
I can only do a bit each day otherwise my hands start to play up.........must set myself a target.......so many inches a day, something like that...........lol:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I've been looking for inspiration on the trusty internet. I found this great blog - http://jenniferssweettreatdesigns.blogspot.com/2009/08/project-tuesday-treat-box.html
I love this treat box! I can imagine making it with Christmassy paper, I've got loads of Christmas card making paper from previous years that desperately needs using up!
There isn't a template on the site but I don't think it would be that hard to make. I might have a go at making a paper version tonight to see how easy/hard it is. I hope it turns out well as I would like to make quite a few of these and fill them with each person's favourite sweets. It's one of those rare gifts that seem suitable to give to anybody, even those annoying father-in-law types that seem impossible to buy forMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -

have just trawled through the edible gifts link (post #13 above) then into another until I was almost lost! However the flavoured vodkas sounded amazing- lots of different sweetie vodka ideas that made my mouth. I don't think I have any vodka in the house- shame think I'll have to experiment!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I had an idea about getting cheap-er card for the kitchen organiser in post #14.
We used to have a shop which framed pictures and they used to sell bags of assorted mount board cheaply (presumably the pieces that came out of the middle!) These were handy for any project that needed stiff card. Another place is possibly the covers of old wallpaper books if these are still available! The inside board is very tough. Of course the wallpaper , if suitable could be used for the backing paperBeing polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Molly41 and I have signed up for a Christmas Decorating residential course.! So I will have some inspiration then, however I could only go as I had not spent all my euro's on my annual holiday in Portugal this year. (I could have saved the euro's for next years holiday, but then I thought why not live a little, and Molly was thrilled I decided to join her as she was getting nervous about going on her own.). So we have been raiding my sewing stash, and my remenants that I have been getting off of ebay, all ready to take with us in November.
All I need now is to think of otherways of savings as this is probably not a cost effective way of doing things! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
