Oooh, nice idea for a thread
I like to see lots of pictures as it gives me more ideas than just descriptions. I think I have some pictures of things I made last year, I'll see if I can find them.

This is some chutney I made last year for my Dad. I made the labels on my computer and stuck them on with sticky backed plastic. I hope this photo isn't HUGE!Making money for Christmas 2012!0 -
Some fudge I made last year. I used a silicone mold and they came out really well.Making money for Christmas 2012!0 -
More fudge, christmas tree shapes this time! I love these silicone trays but if you can't find any then I'm sure silicone ice cube trays would work just as well. I got these Christmas shaped ones from a book club that comes to my work so can't really recommend where to get them from.Making money for Christmas 2012!0 -
Some flavoured vodkas I made for my brother-in-law. I wanted to print out some better looking labels but I ran out of time so had to go with handwritten onesMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -

Baileys Fudge
500g golden granulated sugar
500ml whipping cream
50ml baileys
150g white chocolate
1. Butter and line a 22cm x 22cm tin (I use cling film). Put sugar, cream and Baileys in a large pan and, stirring slowly, bring it to a simmer. Make sure the sugar is dissolved (it will stop feeling 'grainy' on the base of the pan), then turn the heat up to a rolling boil.
2. Adjust the heat until the mixture bubbles without getting too near the top of the pan. Keep bubbling, stirring occasionally, until a small amount of mixture dropped into a glass of cold water will form a soft ball that you can pick up on the end of a teaspoon.
3. When it's nearing readiness, the bubbles will go from being large and unruly to smaller and more even. Stir in the chocolate and, after it's melted in, pour the mixture into a tin. Cool and cut.
This is the recipe I used for the fudge. It was the first time I had ever made fudge and the recipe worked brilliantly. I didn't use a sugar thermometer, just followed the recipe instructions and guessed when it was ready! If your fudge didn't set it could be that you didn't boil it for long enough.
Flavoured vodkas - they are so simple that they don't really need a recipeIt's just sweets and vodka. For the toffee flavoured one I used Werthers sweets and for the others I just used cheap boiled sweets of whatever flavour I wanted. I don't use expensive vodka either, just supermarket own brands.
To make the vodka
* You first crush up the sweets. The smaller the pieces, the quicker it will dissolve.
* Put the crushed up sweets into whatever container you are using, then add the vodka.
* Give it a stir or shake every now and then and the sweets will gradually totally dissolve. I made mine in the evening and by the next day they were dissolved.
* The next step is the trickiest, you need to filter the vodka as it will have a kind of scummy stuff floating on the surface.
* Use a coffee filter and pour the vodka into a fresh container. Depending on which sweets you use, you may have to filter a few times, using a fresh coffee filter each time.
If you make the Werthers one, don't worry if it seems to seperate a bit. Mine did that but we just gave it a shake before drinking and it was fine.Making money for Christmas 2012!0
