Sony and Microsoft must be fuming about the amount of money they've put into the research and development of their consoles and the market share nintendo has gained with what is essentially a repackaged Gamecube. Good on them!0

For all those that haven't got one yet, here's hope. A few days ago I sent an email to Nintendo asking why it was impossible to get a wii in shops and online in UK, yet if I lived in any other country I would be able to get them no problem. I have just had an e-mail back, here it is:
Dear Customer, thank you for your e-mail.
Nintendo is working at its maximum production level to supply as many Wii hardware units as possible during the busy Christmas period.
The demand for Wii hardware globally has been unprecedented and higher than Nintendo could ever have anticipated. Nintendo are now in a position in which seasonality demand trends are being broken, therefore the demand for Wii hardware is constant throughout the whole year globally. Due to this phenomenon it is possible that the demand for Wii hardware may outstrip supply.
As an indicator of the commitment to ensure stock reaches the market to meet demand, Nintendo have continually been increasing its annual Wii hardware shipment forecasts throughout the year. For the fiscal year beginning 1st April 2007 and ending 31st March 2008 Nintendo have raised their annual shipment forecast for Wii hardware by a total of 3.5 million units globally, Nintendo now plans to ship 17.5 million Wii units globally, versus the 14 million units initially planned in April 2007.
Production levels for Wii hardware are also at the highest they have ever been, with a maximum production capability of 1.8 million units globally per month.
We are doing everything possible to supply continued levels of stock and meet demand as quickly as possible. Unfortunately we do not have any information on delivery dates or which stores will get the bulk of these deliveries, however larger store chains in towns and cities will receive the most.
Kind regards,
Your Nintendo Team
Well I suppose at least you got a response, but they have not answered your points.... why are stocks in the UK so low and why have Amazon DE stated that pressure was placed on them by Nintendo not to ship units to the UK..... are you going to reply back to them and demand further clarification and answers to your questions - although you will probably get more PR s**t0 -
well i spoke to nintendo uk and they said amazon de stopped shipping because they coudnt meet demand in the uk and it was having annormous pressure on there buisness trying to ship to uk they said it was a descion on there own back and nothing to do with nintendo whatsoever but i bear to diiffer them noing so much as wy they stopped seemed a bit strange to me0

Some say lots on the way, others say 10k max. When I look at the figures on this thread alone it tells a story, if 10% of the nation know about MSE & only 10% 'of those' know about this thread, with over 500,000 hits...see where I'm going?
I honestly don't know the answer, but every single year when something becomes 'THE TOY TO HAVE', the stock never ever materialises in time, so I suggest it will be no different this year over any other year.
The production lead times on these is at least 3 months usually so I don't honestly see how they could get a substantial amount here in time anyway. If it's already in transit much of it won't be coming here that's for sure.
If I were looking for a Wii (& i'm not), I would probably just jump in & grab one now at a small premium because as someone else stated earlier the Christmas rush has not even started yet, when it does you'll know about it. There will be street fights over Wii's i'll bet.
I agree with the fact that the majority will go elsewhere USA Etc.
We are a relatively small nation & the allocation for goods of this nature is always pretty low. In my opinion the price will only go up.0 -
I ordered one from Next back around September with a delivery date of 3 weeks. Guess what? I got nothing. I cancelled the order 3 days ago and decided to try get one for myself. Now I have one sitting here that I bagged two nights ago on Amazon. Unfortunately, I've now been given the task of getting one for my niece.
Just wonder how many other people think its fine and that their Wii will arrive until the first week of december rolls round and they start to sweat. 0 -
Anyone still trying Amazon? I give up now, night all...:o0

It's 05:22 Saturday 24th & I can safely say there have been no Wii's anywhere all night, so you didn't miss anything people.
It looks like the 2 day limited flurry has come to an end!0 -
you have to wonder if the people who just pay the rip off prices have got it right, the amount of time that I have spent in front of the screen for £70 saving/premium if you divide that by the number of hours.
I could have flipped burgers in the local McDonalds and been sound asleep had a wii ,a few pounds in my pocket and a new flick knife just like the rest of the yoof in the UK
you have it bang on. criticise ebay all you like but i'd rather get it off ebay and pay a bit more than spend countless hours looking for one in stock at RRP (that never is), to me it seems a total waste of time and not worth the extra effort to save £50-70.0 -

What I'm not following is why there are people posting that there will be a huge dellivery soon and then a flood of Wii. (no pun intended)
Nintendo have stated they can't hit demand worldwide, HMV have stated they can't get stock in to meet demand, the stock is arriving slowly but in small numbers, you have to think if there was a big enough delivery to satisfy everyone how big would that ship have to be???
Please if you want to get one by all means keep trying but there are only 30 days to Xmas, as Eco has stated it's a hot toy and stock never appears in time no matter how much it's promises. Buy it soon , maybe at a inflated price, but the longer you leave it the worst it will be.
Call that hyping it up, call it scaremongering, but to be honest it's just what happens every year, be it the Wii this year or last year, or the Thunderbirds tracey Island set a few years ago. You know full well internet retailers will take orders and get flack in January for not delivering them in time.
At the end of the day it's a toy, it's not essenssial, and if you can't get one, whilst you or your kids may be disapointed, it's not the end of the world.0 -
This makes me laugh: Taken from Amazon website:
- Christmas Companion - EA Playground (Wii)
Why not add a fantastic collection of mini-games to your new Wii underneath the tree with EA Playground ? With great games including Dodgeball, Slot Car Racing and Wall Ball there's loads of fun for the family this Christmas.
Try telling them we can't get the wii's in the first place
still to expensive tho:cool:0 - Christmas Companion - EA Playground (Wii)
