i know that toys r us in doncaster will have some in the morning. they open at 9am. don't know if that is far?

I think most Toys R Us will have some Wii's in stock in the morning. There is a full page advert in todays Sun newspaper. Says the stores open at 9am.

Can you imagine the looooooong line of hopeful parents outside!!

I also want to say don't forget the little computer/gaming shops that are local to you. I have just popped into a local shop and have been put on their waiting list for a Wii. I am number 11 on the list. He is expecting stock but won't know how many each day/week he is going to be allocated from his stockist until he gets a phone call from them!

Good luck in the search everyone! ;)

they claim to have stopped reservations for the wii totally.
i don't know if it is possible to still reserve the wii, but they claim they have stopped it now.
there are none on ebay at the moment. seems that has been stopped.:T

Is there any particular reason why this is such a good thing? I would far rather pay £10 to someone for an argos reservation code and collect at my leisure than spend days on end at a heightened level of stress to get something that sells out in seconds whenever people see it. In fact I have done, and it's so much easier than constantly refreshing on stock lists or camping out in front of toys r us at 3am.

My time and sanity is worth more to me than £10! What do people value their sanity at?

    :)

Does ethics really come into it though? I'm sure most of us have copied a tape or CD in our past, which, from an ethical point of view is arguably worse than someone selling a reservation code on ebay.

I am not one of these people who sells the codes on ebay as I have far better things to do with my time than hunt around argos looking for Wiis in the hope I might make a few quid, but I am one of these people who buys the codes (at my own risk), picks up the Wiis, and then sells them to make some cash so I can treat my family properly this Christmas.

At the end of the day that's what retailers are doing with their wholesalers isn't it?

like i said, ethical difference of opinion. i think it's a bit tragic that you need to abuse the system to make money. this forum is about money saving and helping each other.not about screwing fellow PARENTS who want the toys for their kids this christmas. yes, ethics do come into it, and i am maybe in the minority that don't copy cd's etc etc. i like to live my life the RIGHT side of the law. shoot me!

If my experience with Toys R Us is anything to go by then you will need to be up early.

Last year I went to their "open 9am saturday" stock, got there early just to check (got there at 6am) and even then I was 61st in the queue.

People were queing since 11pm in sleeping bags.

Luckily they had 63 in stock so me being 61st in the queue at 6am only just made it.

They were good though, gave everyone in the queue a ticket to say yes we have stock and your within the stock levels.

They were all bundles also, I think £230 was the cheapest last year.

    Get there early.*

    *Or late tonight.

    good for you. :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T

I have been in the situation in the past where I have been trying to get hold of something for my kids for christmas and not been able to. i don't fall for that trick these days. however, i do help my friends who are in that situation, and to date, i am VERY pleased to say I have managed to help 4 friends get their wii's. buying codes from ebay is unethical. just my opinion, but i am entitled to it.

Yeah I totally agree that it's a differing of opinions however I was just stating my opinion not slating you so don't retaliate with personal comments. Also, for the record, I don't think I'm abusing any system. People are thrilled with their purchases from me - if they really wanted to they could get them from the same source as me. I am also taking huge risks - eg driving to France with absolutely no guarantee that there will be any there - so if it doesn't pay off then I will not be the person who has the last laugh. But at least I will still be smiling :)

I wouldn't expect this post to be the last in the matter but we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

:T I have just received a wii for my son's Xmas presant from Amazon.de ( delivered a day early ).
I tried to order one for a friend at work but it wouldnt let me.
I don't know if that is to limit the quantity to 1 per person of if it is due to some anticompetetive measure on behalf of Amazon but I will advise friend to try for himself.
