Be careful with this - I have read the entire thread and towards the end people are saying that the store are looking into it - quote from HDUK
Blockbuster in Bedford have been informed by Head Office to suspend deal while checks are made.Went in this morning and not buying games at moment.Could be local Only.Looks like they may have cottened on.Informed I could only do 1 game.Anyone else get this or have further info.

Anyone thinking of this, WARNING from somebody who tried something similar !!!! I tried doing something like this and got burnt !!!

I noted some titles online I thought would trade in at a higher value. So i bought a couple to try.

The first couple went through. I could not believe my luck, then I got ambitous and thought I could get a a console like the above plan. That's when my problems started.

Blockbuster keep a record of all your trade ins. When you trade in something they can look at your account history, and see if you have traded in the same thing before.

And they don't take sealed games. So at the counter they asked me to unseal the games, and don't do it in the store, go outside. While I was outside they looked at my account and when I went back, the manager quoted the history of my trade ins to me, told me that I had transgressed store policy and told me that they would not be taking any more from me.

Now I had several unsealed games, which I could not return to where I bought them !!!!!!!

Aslo, leaving Blockbuster aside, the biggest danger in trying this at any stores are

    1. Most of the super cheap bargains via net mail order are imports. There is no problem playing them on your console, but you could have a massive problem trading them in. They have a different barcode, and wont scan. I said well you could type the name in, then they said that the game had the wrong rating. Any game with an age rating has to have the offical BBFC (British Board Of Film Classifying) rating. Some of the ones I got had US and European ratings, not UK. They were refused on this basis. Apparently it is illegal to sell any age rated games in the UK without the offical 12 / 15 / 18 rating.

    2. Trade in prices change on a daily basis. Head office computer tracks trade in patterns and will adjust the trade in prices immediately if they think that the company stands to lose money. Call Of Duty 3 is currently listed in the GAME price guide at 28. I went to trade it in they offered me 18. Despite the fact that it is listed in their trade in Guide at 28, they told me that it is only a guide, that they were getting a lot in when a lot of the same games get traded in the price will drop massively without warning.

You could be left holding games that will not trade in, or for less than you bought them and that you cannot return !!!!!!

i'm looking for one near or around gloucestershire
Everything in life is a paradox. The more you want approval, the more you become a person that other people don't want to approve of, the less you care about whether you get approval, the more you get.:A
