Think that this thread has sort of out-stayed its welcome.
I was looking to get a Wii from mid Jan and got one at beginning of Feb.
Since then have been wrapped up in the game of seeing who/when/where Wii's were available, and I can honestly say that I could have got a console at least 30 times on Amazon or Argos, and that's only checking in the evenings & weekends.
I must say that I think it is great as there is no other console that would get my wife to play it on a daily basis.
I however must finish this post by saying that if you haven't or can't find a Wii console, then the chances are that you don't really want one.

With a little effort getting a wii is very easy, someone I know asked me if I could get one my response was yes, I just phoned the 5 or 6 local game shops each day after 9am as that is when they get their delivery manifest so they know what will be on their delivery and ask if they are getting any wiis. They asked me on Sunday night and by Thursday morning I had a wii for them. The stores I was calling would even put my name on the list as reserved a wii all I needed to do was go and collect it during the day.

I have got one just now from Argos online (call via the cheaper number 01785 250000) they have over 50 in stock and i think it is an unbeatable price:

    Wii console
    Wii Sports
    Accessories Kit
    and game of your choice

    for £209.97

The price can be found in the june edition of the Argos catalogue price update (dated 23rd may - 19th June)

The wierd thing was they didnt have any in stock for delivery to my house, but are delivering instead to my mum's 10 mins away so you might have to find a friend who will accept delivery for you.

Hope this is of use to someone.

Has anyone seen any in stock at a Tescos?

I have some Clubcard vouchers and I was thinking of treating the Spud family :D
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

This is slightly off-topic, but I'm looking to sell mine (brilliant system, I just seem to lack the time for games these days).

I was thinking of advertising it in the local paper, but would it be taking the p**s to advertise it at the retail price? (I actually paid more for it when it go it, due to the shortages) It is actually practically new, as I've only used it a handful of times - just curious whether the demand is still there to justify selling it at full price?

ChillPill, they still sell very well over on eBay for more than the retail price, loads selling with lots of games and it turns out they are selling with wii play and sports to give 14 games or the consoles are fitted with a wiikey sorry have been decoded and allow the playing of "original like" games. total scammers flogging chiped consoeld with coppied games. but hey people are happy to pay for them. you should get £205 or £210 easy for it with wii sports, nunchuck and remote.

Thanks John, to be honest I don't want to make a profit on it - doesn't seem right somehow. I paid £200 for it originally, so if I can get that back I'd be over the moon. I'll stick an advert in the paper and see what comes of it :-)
  • I tried everywhere yesterday, game, gamestation, debenhams, toysrus, tesco, asda, sainsbury, hmv, virgin but the place i found them in stock was WOOLWORTHS!!!!
