Fair enough, I just thought it was worth mentioning in case it was feasible. Oh well, Plan C for the OP ...
  • Will it really increase? I thought as they stated I have no claims protected if I had 2 claims within 3 years then I would lose No claims and then see an increase

    Afraid so.
A simple way to look at it is like this.
Your current basic premium may be £500, and with NCD of 50% you would actually pay £250.

Now you have made a claim, the insurance company will assess you to be a higher risk so at renewal time you new basic premium might rise to £700.
As you have protected no claims discount, this will still give you a discount of 50% and this discount will be applied to the new premium, leaving you £350 to pay.

Exactly. Most people forget to factor this into the equation or it simply goes over their heads.

I'm in the middle of a claim now with a 3rd party hitting me (and paying). I am plugging in the fact that I have been hit into various websites and if it affects my premiums, the guilty 3rd party will have to cover my losses going forward into the years ahead until this accident is no longer reportable; so 5 years hence.
