Holiday insurance - Worth every penny!

Hi,
Just wanted to add a note on here regarding holiday insurance and the fact that it should be mandatory. Obviously holiday insurance covers a wide range of circumstances, all of which have merits but one covered a significant area for me.
Family due to fly to Florida on 21st July but sadly my father passed away on the 20th. Obviously as holidays go this one was as expensive as they get.
Money lost cancelling so late:
Flights £3,400
Villa £1,600
Park tickets £850 (half refunded)
Car hire £110 (£260 refunded)
The thick end of £6,000. Insurance excess is £40.
Although we may not be able to schedule another holiday this year, at least next years is covered.
Off topic, thank you Dad for everything. You were a great Dad and Grandad and will be loved and missed by us all
