I *think* HappyMJ yesterday at 1:56 is probably right. The problem is the "estimated" reading and the "seasonal timing" of the estimated reading.

For meaningful results you need to check between actual readings that are taken at the same time of year. I stand to be corrected but on a brief review of your posted readings I don't think you have sufficient data to sustain your "all gone wrong" theory.

Anyway 13kWhrs/day is on the face of it very reasonable consumption for cooking by electricity and regular washing machine use.

My actual consumption between this time last year and now is hard to say exactly. When the meter was read in Sept 2010 it was 20820. Now it is over 28500. So in less than a year (10 1/2 to 11 months) it is almost 8000.

I agree - 13kWhrs/day is not too bad. Multiply that by 365 and the figure would be 4745 (of course this will rise in the long evenings etc). But that is a far cry from the usage detailed above.

If you're not using electricity for heating, you'll find that daily usage only increases slightly through the winter months, especially if you have energy saving bulbs.
So taking a figure for a typical week at this time of year and multiplying it by 52 may be a little low but give you quite a good idea what annual usage to expect.
In all probability, what the meter says you have used is probably fairly accurate and you just have to see if there's any unexpected increases in your current usage.

OK, I accept the "8000" as a matter of fact, subject to the readings not being inadvertantly erroneous. An obvious lesson is from now on take readings every month if your usage or meter accuracy is of concern to you.

The effect of the most severe winter in years must one suspicion. Its only a suspicion, but the 13kWhrs/day (summer) usage, given cooking and washing usage doesn't strongly support the argument of an inaccurate meter. Which was your starting point.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi all I am new here, wonder if could help me. I am an EDF customer.have set up direct dibt qurterly to be taken out of my bank. since last year may 2011, had received letter from time to time from edf saying thanks for payments or to provide correct reading or they will take certain amount of money if not. well I thought they are taking money out as i was making sure i had enugh money. recently received a bill for over £800. when i contacted them I failed as never got true so i cancell my dd,after few times when i got thrue they said its becuse they havnt took money since last year. i asked why they didnt informed me they simply said appology. i had never been informed by my bank niether if there was a problem. ..they offered me to pay it every months to reduce or change meter to a key one. which i accepted the change of meter option. as now i lost my job too and faceing a debt which isnt caused by my self. what option do i have? can i ask them to cleared off as it wasnt my fault. they should have took it when it was due or informed me about any problem which they didnt. please provide me with all option i have as it is very annoying and EDF dont give attention. I also been billed for a meter which isnt mine but they say it is.
