There's a limit to what they can do with it when you own it.

What do you envisage that 'something' being?

Farming?
Stabling?
A leisure park?
A car park?
Commercial Development?
Residential Development?

There's no point buying farmland if you want to do anything other than farm it, because only the most exceptional instances will you get planning permission. Likewise no point buying land with a view to commercial or residential development unless such sites are designated for these kind of developments in the local plan for the area.

But all this assumes you to be doing the developing - would you be allowing your tenant to develop it?
