What's it all about?
Ifs is a registered charity whose purpose is to provide structured financial education. It has today launched a challenge for uni students to invest a fantasy £100,000 to help you learn about shares, bonds, gilts and the rest with the winner taking home a tidy £9K. Post grad students can also take part but the prize is only £3,000 for them.
How to take part
Simply go to the Uni Investor site and register your details. You'll need to include details of a lecturer and their e-mail addres so make sure you check it out with them first.
Trading starts 1 February 2007 and ends 30 April 2007. Once you have opened your account you will be given a fantasy £100,000 with the aim to make it grow as much as possible.
You can check your performance against others in the challenge or those from your particular uni; you can also set up your own league tables to hot up the competition.
At the end of the trading period, the top 30 participants will be invited to submit a short report or essay on a related topic to determine the overall winners.
