You can get blown wallpaper (Super Fresco or Anaglypta) which has a raised pattern that you just paint over. Used to be a bit naff, but there are some quite funky contemporary designs available now. Stay away from woodchip though - horrendoust stuff to get off.0

dont use anaglypta it is a bit difficult to handle
use super fresco with a heavy pattern the emulsion paint.
Its easy for the novice to use cos you can hide mistakes !!
only thing to watch is always leave paste on each piece for same length of time or it may shrink & leave a gap between pieces when dry
these blown vinyl papers are in all the DIY places and they always have some on special offer.
Make sure you buy plenty spare you can always take it back ( FULL ROLLS!!!)
best of luck0 -
Get a plasterer in to skim the walls and provide a smooth surface.
You might be able to diy a half decent job but there is a lot of skill in good plastering.0 -
We have bumpy walls and planning to get them skimmed. Not sure whether to put lining paper on top of that or to just paint the plaster.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
