Lamona oven hobs. Someone help me?

Hey

I am wandering if someone could help me.

So I was using my mothers Lamona oven hob. I had the hob on for 2 minutes with a sauce pan on, just heating up some food. When I turn it off, I notice the hob is a complete mess. It looks like the pan has left burn rings, staining and marks. Its an electric hob, with a wipeable hob surface. Except that now there is visible damage.

Sure, the pan is not brand new, but its not old or manky either. Some of the coating on the base of the pan is missing in places, but that is about it. I literally am in complete shock about how much visible damage has been done to this hob.

Its not a Lamona kitchen or anything. Just the oven.

I'm at a loss. Mother is going to go spare, but I am sure this is not negligence on my part.

Can someone share with me, how I can deal with this? Is this something faulty with the oven?
