I am looking at the options in England (aware differences exist in Scotland).

The repairs and valuation angles I understand. However I am asking about where the vendor just fails to deliver information required to complete.

For example, a contract cannot be drawn up until vendor provides property details. Vendor stalls for weeks and does not deliver. In the interim you are booted out of your existing property and seek alternative accommodation in a hotel. You need to store all your belongings in storage and pay cancellation fees on movers/cleaners etc.

Could you 'rightable' negotiate £x off due to delays on the vendor's side?

I am not talking about any "ungentlemanly gazundering". Just discounting the price for inconvenience and associated costs.

No you dont have any rights to be compensated for any of the things that you had mentioned.

Thats not to say you couldn't try, but im pretty confident the vendor would tell you to stick it.

Delays with paperwork are just common place, and if living in rented accommodation you should never give notice until you have exchanged to save leaving your self homeless.

You have a perfect right to ask, the vendor has a perfect right to say no.

As said previously then, you could ask that is all. The fact that you have been "booted out" of your previous property is none of the vendors concern I am afraid.

Do remember if you have exchanged and you pull out you will potentially lose your full 10% deposit

Unfortunately moving before you have completed is never recommended for those reasons

Prior to exchange the negiotiation is between buyer and seller. Both can agree or deny any request.
    Once Exchanged you're locked in..

    (in England)
