Just to say i went to a free business meeting for start ups at my local chamber today. It was very informative and got lots of info to take away and met other people in the same boat. They can help you the chamber and its confidential. They also have people they can put you in touch with.

If you are thinking of starting up and have questions try and see if your local chamber does meetings.

yes these meetings are very helpful, also you may also buold up a business relationship with others.

let say for example, you goto one of these meeting thinking of starting your own painting and decorating business and at the same meeting their is someone thinking of starting their own building business.
so this builder does his job, now what trade is needed after, yes a painter, so you could exchange business cards so this builder could get you to decorate any houses he works on

I went to a few of those meetings at my local chamber. It was only after I was sitting with a mentor after drawing up my business plan that i discovered that I wasn't on the New Deal for Self Employment Programme which I had mentioned in my business plan (truth be known, I knew that I wasn't but wanted to force the issue because my disability advisor was rubbish:rotfl:), needless to say I got accepted and the rest is history.

Those free meetings are a great place to meet others in a similar situation and a great way of forming alliances with people in similar trades eg. decorator, plumber, gardener, builder etc.
