reasons why child benefit/tax credits suspended?

just a quick query.

have a client, who was getting chb and tc for 3 children.

since last year his awards have been suspended.

he claims as there is a query over his NINO. When pushed further for docs from them advising why they have been suspended, he says he's on the verge of a heart attack from stress i am causing.

have rang CHB with client present and they were not willing to give any info other to say its been suspended for the last year.

i suspect he is being investigated for fraud. the other issue is that i think his partner is an over stayer so wondering if this is another reason why tc and chb have stopped.

any ideas??

    NINO?

If there are immigration issues, then I work in a school and know that we are regularly asked for letters confirming that children are (a) registered and (b) attending. You are sure that the children exist and are in the country?

Being honest if this is a question in a professional capacity then you should not be asking it on this board. There are many other sites which have qualified debt and benefits advisers who will be able to point you in the direction of the correct legislation and the places to find it.

If your client is telling you that it is you that is causing the stress with the questions my advice in a professional capacity would be to signpost him to another agency where he will feel more comfortable, and his health will be less at risk.

Agreed. If you are looking for general reasons why a claim may be suspended, HMRC should be able to give you the information that you require. If you are aking in a professional capacity, surely the organisation or company that you work for has a more reliable, professional and efficient way of obtaining this information than posting on a public forum?

It may be a simple reason of him not sending the annual renewal back.
