What a git!

Just venting really... sold a £1 item to a person who lives in the same city as me. They asked if they could collect it which I said they could, FOC. Then they messaged me to ask if I could drop it off at their workplace - cheeky! - which I declined politely (as I don't drive or live anywhere near where they work) and suggested it might be easier if I posted it instead.

Which I did - at a fair cost - only to receive a rating of A++++++++ and... 1 star for P&P!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

What a ****wit.

That's it really :-)

Again another example of why the P&P star is pointless, if people aren't happy to pay the listed P&P charge don't bid. Maybe a polite message asking them to review it may help as you feel 1 star for the cost of P&P that was very clearly listed is a little unfair, regardless if they lived in the same city or anywhere else in the UK the postage charge is the same.

It's not pointless - buyers seldom know exactly what something costs to post.

If someone doesn't sell then they probably don't have an encyclopaedic knowledge of RM/courier rates, making what you're saying pretty pointless in itself.

Ebay state that you are not allowed to contact buyers regarding star ratings. Phone Ebay and explain to them to see if you can get it removed.

    I agree.

I recently had a Japanese buyer buy something off me and before I could weigh the parcel and invoice him he paid £12 for p&p

When I weighed the parcel, which was quite heavy, even though the item itself was only £3, the p&p was £12.75 ish.

I still send the item even though I lost out on the deal, and the blighter left me 2 stars for p&p.

I know I could have cancelled the payment and re-invoiced, but thought I would take the easier option and just send it. Big mistake, one I won't make again.:(:(:(

A while ago I also sold 2 magazines to one person, I only charged £2 p&p, as I had advertised the p&p at £1.50 each. I am only a private seller and only had about 12 different mags for sale.

When I recieved feedback, which was stroppy to say the least even though he left me 2 positives.

The magazines were still in their original plastic wrap and had been in a cupboard untouched for years, but the buyer said they were not in good condition, which was a blatant lie.

I checked the buyers feedback and he is a magazine seller and charges £2.50 p&p each for selling the same mags. I think he just tried to wreck my feedback as he left me all 2 stars.

So yes, stars are a joke.

What a stupid thing to say. I've never met anyone who can see a photo of an item and instantly know the weight and size and how much it would cost to send. If there was someone out there like that i'm sure they would be in a circus or helping Derren Brown. I wish I had that skill it would save me all my time weighing items before sending them.

Buyers rely on sellers to charge a fair price (as per ebay rules). if sellers dont they will suffer with poor DSRs etc. If sellers dont wish to work within these systems they are well within rights to go elsewhere to sell no one is forcing them.

I have no idea if the OP charged a fair price or not but no system is perfect i'm afraid you will occasionally get numpties. You could appeal it I dont think it would be removed but you having nothing to lose but to try.

Why didn't you calculate the postage when you listed it? If you list with postage costs and prevent buyers changing the invoice total, you won't have this problem.

I agree. It is so much simpler to just put the two lots of postage up when you list (European and worldwide) as buyers can then checkout automatically without waiting for an invoice.
