my daughter in law lives facing me and just come over with a letter from EDF confirming her change of energy supplier with the correct address correct type of meter but a stranger's name and a wonky looking email address. the letter confirms that direct debit details have been set up. she rang EDF who said there was nothing they could do. she said yes there is contact the bank and find out who they are.
i did eventually work out their email address which is Masayarfr@live.com and has not come back as undeliverable.
the telephone number on the sham account was mine so this person has got details of myself and my son.
this is really worrying.
anyone any thoughts on why someone would want to set up an energy account at a different address? the meter details were not correct and her current supplier have had no notification that she wants to change supplier.
very strange.

contact your current supplier and inform then you dont want to leave0

Provided they can log into the energy account,
they can print out the .PDF format bill statement.
They can use the printed statement to apply for bank accounts, etc.0 -
OP, remove the e-mail address from your first post in case the person who owns it sees it, as this will give the companies/police more time to get to the bottom of this and apprehend the offending party.
HTH. Best of luck!

Trace it?
The ***@live.com address is like a Hotmail account.
You'll trace it to an Internet cafe in Nigeria.
Unless pretty young girls are missing, and splashed all over the front page, the only people doing any tracing and tapping are news reporters.0 -
