New Pram

Hi all, bit of a long story made short here but any help is appreciated.

Bought a new pram at start of May, (£600) and when baby was born we noticed that when taking him out for walks the Chasis seems to squeek a very lot and loudly. For a pram at this price you wouldnt expect this at all. So as we stay a bit away from the shop we bought it and hard to get into it, after phoning and being adviced to try oiling it without no avail we decided to take pram into shop. At this point when in shop we also noticed we werent given a matress for it so were given a new 1 also.. We asked what about the squeeking and were told to try using Silicon spray ( which we have done for past 2 weeks and still the same ) So i phoned today to ask what we can do and the shop says we need to take pram in and leave it with them to try and fix..

This is were help is needed, i have told shop that leaving the pram overnight or for more than a couple of days isnt suitable to us as we live a good bit away and wont be able to get baby back and worth in just a car seat as we dont drive so its only on public transport..

Can anybody advice are we entitled to a new chasis or a replacement pram or were we stand here.. If i have missed any info i will answer any questions.. Thanks

  • You are entitled to a replacement / refund / repair for all intents at the discretion of the retailer. The remedy should not cause you significant inconvenience. This means if they have offered a repair you need to give them the opportunity to fix it. I would suggest that 1 night without the pram would not be significantly inconvenient but talk to the shop and they may let you have a spare whilst yours is in getting fixed.

    you beat me

you need to give them the chance to fix the problem. ask if they have a pram you could use while they try and fix yours.
  • I see where the shop are coming from, but when i tried asking this today i was met with a bit of lip. They sayd it could take longer than a day. But my point is that the pram is faulty from Sale, you wouldnt expect to Grease a new pram you just paid a lot of money for.. And as it is the chasis i asked can they just replace it.. But i got a no..
It is more to do with conveniance as it would be a "nightmare" to take it in and leave it.. as what else will i do in meantime at home etc with baby and no pram as it is also a 3 in 1 so no other buggy
  • To be honest I have not had or never had a baby so am not in any position to comment as to whether being without a buggy for a couple of days is actually inconvenient or not. If it is argue the toss with the shop, speak to the manager and see what they suggest. If you are being difficult because they gave you a bit of lip then rise above it and just lump it for a few days.

    Good luck!

Just take 1 part of the pram into the shop so that you have something at home to pop baby into.

You could always carry baby home from the shop to home, not that much of an inconvenience really

My daughter in law has had 2 babies and has never owned a pram or pushchair.
Slings are all she uses and seats, cushions on the floor.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Sounds like our mamas and papas pram we had, same symptoms. They had it for few days and told us they greased the wheels. Was OK for a bit, then it started again and now the noise has disappeared.
