Loan from 1998?!

Is there any point in trying to claim PPI from a loan from 1997/1998, or is that way too far back?! I had a loan from Lloyds TSB around then but dont have any details!

You can ask them but dont be surprised if they tell you that they no longer have any details and as you have no details they wont pay out

Drop in to your local branch of lloyds tsb, they should have the details of the loan on there system. Lloyds have wised up if you phone them or the ppi complaint line and will simply say 'we only hold information from the last 6 years' so drop in on your local branch and stand your ground ;)

to get you started, Look here for info and reasons for being miss-sold your ppi

Once you have had a read though and have your reasons. You will need to fill in a consumer complaints questionnaire. Which I would download, have a read though and familiarise yourself with the questionnaire and its layout. The questionnaire can be found here

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/rec...nsurance#step3

the main info you will need to complete the questionnaire is:
    • Loan account number/numbers
    • start date
    • finish date
    • and your reasons

then complete the form and send it off

simples, hope that may help, good luck

    Hi there

There is no harm in doing so, but if you do know you were paying and mis sold the ppi, and still have the account numbers, give it a shot, Lloyds emailed me over a fortnight ago with account number details going back from the mid 90's and also confirmed there were PPI.

If you bank or banked with them, give them as many details as possible, the bank account number, full name, and all addresses you lived in at the time of taking out loans etc.

And you can email them here.

    Good luck.

    Hi Di,

As it happens i went into the branch i had the loan from today and from my debit card she had a look on the computer and she said on my notes, i did have a loan in 1998 for £6,500 but that was all the details she had. I said i needed the details but they said that they didnt have any other details about the loan such as if i paid PPI or how much the monthly payments were.
I might just email the address you have given and try them to see if i can get more and try my luck as i know i definitely paid PPI and paid nearly £10,000 or more back!
So i shall get on it! I have already had money back from EGG and RBS so here hoping!
    Thanks again Di ;)

  • I recently made a successful claim with Santander for my mother, which got me thinking about my old loans with Lloyds. Looking at my statements I could see that 2 of the loans ended in 2005, but I didn't have the paperwork to hand. As it was raining today i went searching in the loft and found all my old papers.

Unfortunately the loans that ended in 2005 didn't have PPI, but I found 4 other earlier loans that did. These go back as far as 1998, but the actual loan agreements don't actually have dates on them OR it would appear Loan Account Numbers. 2 of the loans have accompanying Lloyds letters which do have dates etc....

Can I actually attempt to claim? And.....if I do, do I have to complete a separate questionnaire for each loan?

    Hi there

And yes you can, mine was successful from reclaims via late 90's early 2000's and I know have another 2 onoing via Lloyds from the mid 90's and infact they emailed me with all loans and credit card account numbers on request.

If the reasons you have for being mis sold are the same, you can complete one questionnaire, remember to apply all account numbers that apply, but otherwise separately.

The details of reclaiming are the same details of the questionnaire on this site as below...
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step3

Or directly on Lloyds website, with the address details as well of where to send.
Please be aware there is a 16 week timescale at present, but they may still resolve before then, good luck.;)
