can't get the pound sign .. help please!

I can't get the pound sign to work .. I just get this sign # ... and I have to press "shift + 2" to get the @ sign and "shift + @" to get the " sign ... does that make sense?

I can't search the forum to see if this question has been asked before 'cos the search facility has vanished:eek: And I keep getting the message that the forum is having tech problems on and off too

your keyboard is set to US see here

to fix this click EN in the bottom corner beside the clock and select English (United Kingdom) if you cannot see EN

right click the start bar beside the clock > toolbars > Language Bar

Thi should work any problems just say

Start - Control Panel - Regional & Languages

On Regional Options tab, ensure English (UK) is selected.
On Languages tab, click Details, ensure English UK keyboard is selected.
