I work as self mployed and do work for a friend who keeps asking me to babysit and it's really peeing me of.
I explained to her yesterday that i'm hardly gonna pay for my own kid's to go to kids club and then have hers.
Soi got the spiel don't I pay you enough. yes I said but i am a cleaner not a childminder.
When I said i was taking mine to the beach today. it was oh you can take mine as well.
I am trying to do a full time degree and work 16 hours, plus coming of anti depressants and it's all I can do to manage what I have .

Might be easier said than done but could you look to find cleaning work elsewhere and say to your friend that you can no longer clean for her? If you're not as 'available' to her for babysitting then hopefully she'll get the message and stop imposing on you.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0

I would do the same, ignore her calls. She sounds cheeky!
Yes she has alot going on, but she presumably chose to have children, and do a degree, so she'll have to do what alot of people have to, either learn to juggle it, or prioritise!0 -
I think perhaps the time is to be blunt and explain that you are finding her endless requests for a baby sitting service a PITA. It's putting pressure on your friendship and it feels like she's taking advantage. Either she'll understand or she'll throw a stop. If she ends up being a Diva about it then I would probably call time on the friendship and the work you do for her.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Next time she says do I not pay you enough.. reply ... not to look after your children.. let her take the comment as she likes.. she might be offended and think you mean her children are beastly but probably wont ask again... Come do my cleaning instead.. I wil pay you and not ask you to look after the beastlings

It's me doing the degree lol. I just think it's a cheek that i pay for babysitters. when she runs her own buisness and expects everything for nothing.
It's cost me £300 for august for childcare, she reckons she can't afford it and takes the kid on jobs with her.0 -
Maybe she has misread the situation. I can imagine if I was employing a friend as a cleaner, I might try to offer her extra hours here and there, as I would assume she needed the money and would think this was helping out. Mind you, I'd take no for an answer!
This is hypothetical though as I don't employ any friends, but a previous cleaner offered to babysit for me whenever I needed, and I don't think it's all that uncommon for cleaners once they have got to know the family to offer this service, though obviously it's not compulsory to do so.0 -
Ask her to ask her parents to babysit or get a proper childminder. Make up a lie about a new job or something.New year, new comper here!
