Argos Microwave returns.

Options
Hey all,

I purchased an Argos "Value Range" Microwave about 10 weeks ago and the other day it decided to stop working. First the door open button stopped working and then the microwave ceased to operate at all.

I would like to take it back to Argos for either a refund or a replacement, I have got the original receipt and instruction manual including the warranty details but i do not have the original box or packaging as I obviously threw it all away. Will this make any difference to being able to return it?

Is it likely that they will refund or replace there and then or are they more likely to want to try and repair it? It is just that without a microwave I cannot cook anything!

  • All you need to take back is the oven itself and some form of proof of purchase such as the receipt.
You don't need the box or any packaging.

If it was a cheapie oven I suspect that it will either be replaced on the spot or if it's not a model that they now stock a refund will probably be given.

As Shaun from Africa says, the packaging is not necessary, they will try to tell you it is but stand your ground.

I always keep my packaging for the guarantee period complete with the receipt inside it, in the garage or loft.
I know exactly where the receipt is then, and if you have the packaging it does make life easier.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

no you dont need the packaging at all, they probably wont even question it

the only time youd need the packaging was if you were returning the item because youd simply changed your mind. if its faulty the packaging isnt needed

Go back to store with the microwave (all parts that you have, including instructions etc), we don't send Argos value microwaves away for repair so far as i'm aware, so you will be offered either a replacement if we still stock it or you can choose another and put more money towards it etc. If we no longer stock it and there's no stock available at all you can ask for a refund.

If it's faulty you don't need to return it in the box, just return all the parts that came with the item.
