BA Connecting Flights - Heathrow

I'm considering booking a through trip to Las Vegas from Edinburgh via London Heathrow with BA, but I noticed that only leaves one hour changing time in Heathrow - would they 'guarantee' a connection? Or would they fully compensate us if we missed our flight? (It is a BA flight from Edinburgh-London)

Yes, they would guarantee the connection or being put on the next available flight without further charge providing you do it as a single booking. Don't book the two flights separately.

The flights to LAS are once per day so if you missed it you'd lose a day in LAS Vegas, so consider an earlier flight from EDI or the night before and a stay near Heathrow.

I would suggest getting an earlier flight from EDI. There are 5 flights that would meet the LAS connection so I would get the 1145 rather than the 1345.

One of two things would happen (as long as it is all booked on one ticket)...

    1) They would put you on the next available Las Vegas flight. As another poster stated, these are only once daily. So they would also put you up in a hotel at Heathrow overnight

    2) They would re-route you on BA or a partner airline. I.e. put you on a BA flight to Los Angeles and then a connecting flight to Vegas on American Airlines.

I agree, if you have the choice, why not take an earlier flight down from Scotland. T5 isn't a bad place to spend time (certainly the best terminal at Heathrow!)
