hot &cold fill to cold fill only?

Options
I have a washing machine that is hot and cold fill, which when we redo the kitchen I want to move to the other side of the room, which only has a cold pipe-is it possible to still use this machine or am I going to have to get a new cold fill only one?
Thanks :)

What do the maker's instructions for the washing machine say on the subject? Is there the option for H&C or C only?

You should be able to fit a 'Y' connector to feed the 2 inlets if not. But obviously the wash cycle times will be increased as it will then have to heat the cold water.

We did this when we moved house and did exactly that - we connected both feeds to the cold pipe with a Y connector. Ours wouldn't work without 2 feeds in, it was just sitting there humming slightly waiting for hot water that never arrived...

I have no idea to be honest-its 6 years old so don't still have the instructions...
Y connector sounds like a plan. Or else an excuse to upgrade to a better machine... hmmm

Get the instructions from the manufacturer's website then...this is a money saving site...

Most machines will work with just the cold water connected only but you will have to check the manual yourself. Post the model number here if you wish and I'm sure someone will point you to the correct site.

My machine only uses water from the hot pipe for wash programmes above 40 degrees. For hotter washes, due to the distance from the boiler, the water entering the machine from the hot water pipe will be cold unless I have run the hot tap recently so using a y connector should not cause a problem.

Most modern machines only have a cold water input option these days - it saves energy. Why get your boiler to heat the water for the hot water fill and then cool it down again by adding cold water to get it back down to 30 degrees?

Much more efficient to warm the water in the drum to the required temperature.

...agree with david39 , a lot of new machines work on a cold fill only, so shouldn't be a problem at all.

Not necessarily so, with your electricity heating costs being about 3 times that of gas.
