Urgent help needed with Canon PowerShot A420 camera

Hi, my camera's got a mind of its own today and it's not very helpful at all as I'm trying to take lots of pictures to create ebay listings.

Every picture I take comes out with fine grey horizontal lines.

I tried changing the settings on the camera and playing about with it but nothing's worked. I'm now getting quite desperate.

The problem is that I no longer have an instruction manual and can't figure out what's wrong.

Please please please you technical people out there help me!!!!!!! :A

the lines are on all photos all over the image going horizontally

Probably CCD failure.

Last time I looked, Canon had a very generous policy on this. My Dad's failed at around 5 years old and they just replaced it (with a refurbed equivalent model). 2 years on and the replacement's still fine.

Doubt if I still have a receipt for it, bought it in Argos a few years ago...

I have same problem only I have a Kodak and like you mine was purchased late 2008 from Argos. The fault developed last week. As well as the horizontal lines the view finder is a pinky purple hue when it picks up white and light coloured objects. I am in the process of booking it in for a repair with Kodak but dont know how much they will charge for the repair.
