Amen, is all I can say to that. I have a bit of a lenient attitude towards people who 'cheat' the system because some people are forced into it, by the sheer lack of logic in it.
Despite all this, it is still a lot less frustrating than dealing with the CSA and my partner's ex who doesn't pay maintenance, despite being.......wait for it.....one of the best-paid TEACHERS in Wales.0 -

No!!!
That's awful. I suspected that he was probably self employed and therefore cheating the system because of it. But he's a civil servant on PAYE and yet the CSA still can't get any money from him???
Can I ask what the CSA's excuse is?0 -
Initially he went on the sick for 6 months at a time and told the CSA that he had left work. He was still being paid - he actually had a pay-rise while he was off, and he's a head of department.
Eventually the CSA ordered a detachment of earnings from him. The LEA were extremely unhelpful about it, allowing him to pay less than 5% of his wage. Then, they stopped paying altogether. They've never let us know that he stopped work though he told us through his solicitor that he has.
He now pays nothing as he is claiming benefit. However, I've got reasonable grounds to believe he is doing supply teaching through an agency. Very difficult to trace. (He's bought a new house, had his car upgrade and is not picking the kids up from school any more). We've alerted benefits fraud people, but they won't tell us what they find out. They'll just stop his benefit if he's working, not sure whether they'll tell the CSA or not.
Eventually we removed his arrears from the sale of the marital home - however we can't be paid this without his authorisation. He's really going to comply with that!! £3000 of ours just sitting in a solicitor's account at the moment.
But obviously it's only ever fathers who get bad treatment from the CSA.....0
