The New Inn, Heckfield

We went to this place recently for a family meal out. 8 of us, aged between 12 and 60+. You wouldn't call us a fussy family, exactly, but 'favourite meals' range from a jacket with cheese and beans to, well, posher food.

It was BRILLIANT. From the moment we walked in and saw the sign saying they served food all day every day to the moment we left, almost too stuffed to move, a couple of hours later. We first of all found the afternoon menu, available from 2.30 - 6.30 pm, plenty on that, but we were also welcome to choose either from that or the evening menu, which had all that and more.

Then our questions started. Could we have the medallion of pork without the mustard sauce? Of course we could. Could we have cheese on our garlic bread with the Lasagne? Naturally. And could we have cheese and beans on that jacket, even though it wasn't a featured option? No problem.

Jugs of water and extra glasses were brought to our table on request. Food arrived promptly, correctly, and sizzling hot! (This is how hot: I pinched one of someone else's chips once he'd given up the unequal struggle to finish, and it was still warm and appetising!)

Oh it was a joy! Smiling staff, excellent food, lots of it. Sorry I can't vouch for the beer, because we didn't try it. Superb VFM, go there if you are nearby! It's on the B3349, close to J11 of the M4 and not far from the M3 either. They also seem to do B&B.
