Setting up a common interest group

Hi. I don't know if I am in the right place but here goes. A few likeminded friends have had a small hobbies group going now and a few others have interest in joining. Because of this we want to turn it all on a strict fashion ie no more meeting at each others houses (fine when we all knew each other but not when others want to join) Secondly we need space and would like lecturers to come along and give discussion as we did with our old camera club. If anyone has any help as to how we go about it I'd be grateful. We have been told the best thing to keep subs and payments etc would be a bank account in the clubs name and does seem like a good idea.

There's also local church halls.Speak to schools, colleges, universities, council owned social halls etc for venues.
They will all charge, most likely. However, if you have a local pub with a suitable function room, they may NOT charge, on the expectation that you'll all buy at least one drink in the course of the evening.
I'm no longer up to date with who does what, but if you expect some people to pay their subs in cash then ask banks you can get to easily what they offer, and include the local PO in that. The one I always used to use was Alliance and Leicester, where all my banking happened over the Post Office counter. If they are now Santander I wouldn't touch with the proverbial barge pole ...You can get a treasury account with Nationwide and possibly a few others.Signature removed for peace of mind0
