Comet ripped a whole in the floor when delivering washing machine

Hello,

I had a washing machine delivered by comet this morning, they delivered and installed it fine, and I signed to say everything was ok. However I have just gone to clean the floor around the machine, and when I bent down, I can see a massive rip, the washing machine covers it, which is why I did not see it when they delivered it.

I am about to ring them up to complain, however beofre I do, do I have any chance of compensation, considering I signed to say evertything was fine.

Forget about the signature issue, they can't hold you to it. You biggest problem would be proving to them that it wasn't already like that but given your picture showing the ripped bit under the machine itself should provide pretty good evidence.

I had a similar issue with Comet over a year ago with a fridge freezer that was dragged along my wooden floors from the front door to the kitchen at the back leaving a tram line indentation in the flooring. I only noticed it after they'd left, I too signed their form stating everything was OK. In the end I managed to get them (or rather their insurers) to pay out for the entire flooring to be replaced. Just need a bit of perseverence.

,I recently had a washing machine delivered by on all on behalf of Comet and they have torn my Lino, they never used a trolley ,stood kept me chatting asking me to sign then as soon as they went I went to admire my new machine to see it was torn,on calling them they sent me a response saying the old machine was pulled out,liars,and if it was when they moved it as I paid for re cycling why didnt they point out the tear.
They have requested pictures which i sent, and said that I should have noticed it before I signed, well tbh he was talking to me about my puppy shoved the papers in front of me to sign Nd because my Lino is black it had been tampered with and put flat down,this is so frustrating any ideas ,they say they not accepting liability becauseth tear is to big,my neighbour was a witness to this mishap as well!
