Hi Dee
Sorry about this. We shouldn't be taking over your account without permission form yourself or someone else living at the address. Occasionally it happens due to agent error or incorrect information being provided by other people, however, if it has happened to you more than once then it may be that we have incorrect address information on our systems.
If you could send your name and either your account number or address to PAYGE_MSE_contact@britishgas.co.uk then I will look into it for you and try to find out why this is happening so that we can put a stop to it.
Thanks“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of British Gas. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
I am still in dispute with British Gas over the many unauthorised take overs of my account, but thank you for your input, but yes, you shouldn't keep taking over accounts without permission, I have to say it does show up your incompetence when this happens several times at one household!, the stress it caused me was disgusting the first time it happened, I was sent a bill to my home for over £600 with a threat my supply would be at risk of being cut off if I didn't pay, I am a pensioner and this threat came last November at a time of sub zero temperatures!!....I wasn't even aware I was your customer!!!!...... and now I am sick and tired of hearing all the excuses British Gas are giving me!!.... I have proof of all their blatant lies!, and as I said before I am in dispute over this matter and I will not give up until this comes to light and saves any others the stress and fear that I went through, thank God I have my family to help me with this, sadly other pensioners may not have anyone and its this reason I want to see justice!!
Regards

It's clear this has caused you a lot of distress Dee, but now that rep here has offered to help it should solve the problem for you. I've found the representatives of the various companies always try to help if they can, and if you can give them the information they need they'll do their best to sort it out for you. Please try not to blame them for the problems, they sometimes have a thankless task to put things right when they've gone wrong.0
