Digital TV - Repair or replace???

Aaaarrgghh:eek:

We renewed our TV license on 1st Jan...2nd Jan the telly stops working!

The picture suddenly started to look much darker - fiddled with the colour controls, no change, switched the thing off and left it for 10 mins and when we switched it back on the screen was black, though the sound is there. Does anyone have any idea what could have gone wrong and if it worth getting someone in to have a look at it? Or should we just chuck it?
Its a Sony Triniton Digital (KD-28DX4OU) and is just over 3 yrs old  .

House Insurance, maybe it fell down the stairs, either that or a TV repair shop to get a diagnostic which is usually free.
