First Finance Dental - Anybody had dental finance through these guys?

Hiya,

I wasn't sure whether to put this under health or loans but I thought I'd put it here as it's more money related.

I've been for a consultation about getting three dental implants done, the cost of which is around £4,500 (ouch!) but I'm getting married and I want to finally have my beautiful smile back after a car accident.

I *could* have got a denture but I hate the idea of replacing it and my gums receeding etc.

My dentist offers financing using First-Finance Dental. They have a 12 month 0% interest option and up to three years finance.

In terms of debt I have just got a mortgage in May and I have no outstanding debts (except for about £7 on my OD) I do owe family money but that can be repaid as and when.

My main concern is which credit agency they use as I have a pretty good score, last time I checked, on Experian but my Equifax has a default for £62 on from about 3 years ago that I've argued and argued but can't get cleared.

Obviously my credit can't be THAT pants if I got accepted for a mortgage recently but will that hinder my chances of getting accepted for finance now?

Any advice would be great :D

Its looks from their website that they might just be brokers - it says finance is provided by a maximum of 2 finance providers which we have a commercial relationship with.

Can you afford to repay in 12months? if you need to pay over longer have they given a representative APR for a longer period? (remembering that you find you are accepted at a higher rate than the representative 0% or X%.

Depending on how long a term you will need to pay it back it might be cheaper just to try a personal loan - or a 0% purchase credit card.

Also if you choose your own finance provider you should have a better chance of identifying a firm that used experian rather than equifax.

Try the coop for a loan. I have a default on my equifax from about 5 years ago but not on my experian report and was able to get a loan at a decent rate from the coop.
There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
  • Well I need to speak to my other half as he's suggested that he will pay half, so if we took it out at 0% over 12 months and paid back £375 per month we would split it down the middle (I love my DF!)

A loan from the Co-Op might not necessarily be a bad idea but I'd have to finish tweaking my credit report though as I think I'm still registered to vote at my old address.

    Thanks!
