Caution PC users

I have just had a very odd call today from a witheld number saying they were calling from microsoft
and they were calling all there windows customers as there as been a security breach,
they wanted me to "run" eventviewer to make sure i had not been infected.
after i told them i was not the registered buyer of windows as i bought this PC from a friend and made up some cr*p about me being a computer programmer they quickly hung up

I doubt a sticky would get read any more than a search would be done. I've seen two of these in the first page of posts in the past.

Just had my weekly call, so today's answer was "I have double glazing , already ..she said no I am talking about your computer Windows...So I said can you double glaze my screen then...she said no it is about your wifes Windows Operating software..aah I said you are from the hospital about her appointment just a moment I will get her...puts phone on shoulder and start shouting for wife (who is out at work) .... girly hangs up"

I feel left out, I haven't had one of these calls but am really looking forward to having a chat with Microsoft's representative about my 'broken' pc!

Does anyone know if there's a pattern to who they call or is it just random?

Ive had 2 of these calls in the past 3 months.The 1st time I just told him to do 1 and put phone down on him. 2nd time round I decided to play along and spent 15 minutes on the phone with him. Really confused the idiot.

I'm getting really cheesed off that I haven't had one of these :mad: Closest I got was mrs G-J got one while I was in work, she, recognising what it was, told them to call back when I was home, but they never did.....bah !!!!!!
