Broken car key?

My key broke in the ignition last Thursday. Honda wanted a fortune for a new key and coding the transponder so I found carkeyhelp on the internet - sent them both halves of my broken key on Friday and today I received a new key with old transponder inside so no need to have recoded - all for £11 plus £1.50 p&p! Well worth saving the link in case it happens to you!
No reliance should be placed on the above.

How did they code it to the car without physically being there though? i.e on my car you need to have the master key in ignition and do a sequence of opening / closing doors & turning the key at certain times etc. If I lose this master key I'm !!!!!!ed.

Try reading the post. They put the transponder from the broken key into the new key so no programming is needed.
