NEVER go to asupermarket opening..

,,if you don't have full body armour handy!

I live in a very small town on the outskirts of Inverness, and Sainsburys opened a store here this morning. As I'm on holiday from work this week-I thought 'hey I'll take a meander over, see what's happening'

NEVER again!!!

The lilac hair brigade were out in force, with their elbows like razor blades fighting over their voucher for a pound off a pork chop or some such nonsense! They worked in flipping pairs, blocking off aisles with their trolleys/scooters at either end.

They were giving out blinis (sp?) with strawberries and cream-could I get near them? No chance 'Oooh Mary-c'mere they've got free stuff' *proceeds to grab a handful*

The butcher counter looked ok-so I decided to purchase some lamb chops for tonights dinner. Got a trolley rammed up my arris and told in no uncertain terms that I was taking FAR too long because 'I need to get that bit of oxtail for my soup'

Of course- with it being the school holidays, there were the usual hordes of mothers with 6 kids-all screaming blue murder because the oldies had nicked all the blinis! I know it was my own fault for going to the opening, and I could have sauntered over later-but thought after all the fanfare I'd see what the crack was...least it taught me something- to just keep doing my shopping online!

And..breathe.......:p

You should have been to the opening of Primark in Oxford Street! Even seasoned rugby player friends of mine found it hard work!

I expected to come back with dinner..not a bruised behind though...;)

The town I live in only had an expensive co-op before, so I guess they needed to see if 'Deep Heat' and blue rinses were any cheaper in Sainsburys...:p
