You ask for rights...
Any retail establishment has the right to refuse to serve anyone.
I appreciate that but I didnt realise PO would be classified as 'retail', I thought it might be governed by something else given it a public service
Actually proved helpful! Came on here for shared experience or anyone's help who might be willing to offer it, not for condescension but thanks regardlessI can help you with that too... .

Op - if you click on this link it will take you to a Royal Mail site where you can pre-print your own electronic certificate of posting and all the PO has to do is stamp the copy
it may help you speed up the process and avert any abuse at the Post office
Very helpful - thank you0 -
Ah, the post office joys. I remember when I used to make daily trips to our local post office, they was always prepaid with smartstamp, sometimes I would go, the staff would take the parcels, stamp to Proof of Postage and off we go -- but certain people would weigh every bloody parcel. They was exceptionally light and being send via standard parcel < 2kg so it didn't take a genous to feel their not over weight. Sometimes having to do stuff on the computer between every parcel... took half an hour on some occasions.
But op, as already mentioned proof of postage is useful in getting compensation from royalmail -- nothing more. If a buyer claims they haven't received the item then POP is completely irrelevent!! Its then you send your compensation form to royalmail and supply the postage certificate. So if its not printed I fail to see the problem, as long as its valid.0 -
Open an account with Royal Mail and deliver to the sorting office. This is what I did when my local PO became too grumpy for my liking.0

I'd return to your original complaint. Tell them it's not been solved and ask them to escalate the matter. Do postcomm regulate counters as well? It might be worth checking0
