Standing charge up 30%

Has anyone noticed that Scottish and Southern's daily standing charge is going up 30% on 14th August from 16.24 pence to 21.26 pence? Nobody ever mentions this price increase - I wonder why?

A Consumer Focus accredited comparison website will accurately calculate the headline cost for the entered annual consumption in kWhrs.

Increasing standing charge is something that "discriminates" against *very* low users.

*That* would be a better criticism of Scottish and Southern Energy.

Or it makes sure that very low users pay the full fixed costs of supplying them energy. Making the pricing system fairer for all users.

Except your definition of "fairness" is that it's "fair" that those in "fuel poverty" pay a higher proportion of their earnings for energy than higher rate tax payers.

*I* don't consider that "fair". Or "right" that their homes will be cold in winter by virtue of "fuel poverty".

And low users are emitting less co 2!!! There is no encouragement to use less!!! (esp. with tiers)
