Note through the door. Scam?

Our house is on the market and today we received a photocopied note through the door. It gave a number for "Paul" saying to call about buying or renting in the area. I've searched online and the number comes up with properties sales and ads in Bristol as well as the West Midlands as well as for a "sarah".
It all seems a little odd to me. I wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar? could it be a scam? and if not why would they contact us instead of going through the estate agents?
I called the number and got a automated message asking me to leave my details. I hung up as the message seemed very "automated" and unlike any other normal voicemail message. I'm being very cautious and just wanted some help.

Cheers

Since you're selling, and they have properties for sale, maybe they merely want to sell you one of those they have on the market?

Maybe you're in (say) a 2-bed, and they have a 3-bed for sale, and think you may be looking to upsize?

What's the worst that can happen when you get through and speak to them?
